Hola :)

In today's episode, I'll explain why you might have high ferritin protein in your blood:

1- We'll explain what ferritin is
2- High ferritin levels: values greater than or equal to 89 ug/L in women of childbearing age, 212 ug/L in women in menopause, and values greater than or equal to 147 ug/L in men.
3- Why "fatty liver" is both a cause and consequence of elevated ferritin and iron accumulation in the liver, leading to increased general and particularly hepatic oxidative stress. And all the resulting metabolic and hormonal consequences.
4- Why autoimmune diseases can lead to elevated ferritin even with iron deficiency.
5- Genetic causes of iron and ferritin accumulation: hereditary hemochromatosis.
6- Other NON-hereditary causes of hemochromatosis: copper deficiency, alcohol, hepatitis B and C, drugs like isoniazid, or myelodysplastic syndrome.

Additionally, we'll learn about lifestyle recommendations for each case and, if necessary, treatments that can improve your condition.

I hope you like it :)
