EP 112. Salud de la Piel con el Dr. José Luis Ramirez.

EP 112. Skin Health with Dr. José Luis Ramirez.

Hellooo :) In today's episode I have the pleasure of chatting with Dr. José Luis Ramírez, a specialist in dermatology, with extensive experience in the treatment of acne, rosacea and in the use of laser therapies. Throughout the episode we address the most frequent reasons why people between the ages of 25 and 65 visit the dermatologist today, and how stress, environmental pollution or sun exposure directly influence skin health. We also discussed the most notable differences between female and male skin throughout the different stages of life, and how to adapt skin care to each age. We delve into the world of dermatological lasers: why the same technology can be used for acne, blemishes, wrinkles, or sagging skin; which types of lasers are most effective depending on the indication; what expectations are realistic before starting treatment; and how to minimize risks. We also compare blue light and infrared treatments with lasers and analyze in which cases they can be complementary. Furthermore, and in keeping with José Luis's extensive experience, we dedicate a significant portion of the episode to acne: from its management in adulthood to topical treatments, dietary supplements, laser therapies, and the most effective medications. Dr. Ramírez explains how long it is advisable to maintain treatments like isotretinoin and whether, once completed, the skin changes can be long-lasting. Finally, we share practical advice on three basic pillars for skin care from age 25 onwards, the most common mistakes to avoid, the most useful supplements for skin health, as well as other lifestyle measures with the greatest positive impact on the skin. Here is Jose Luis's contact information if you wish to contact him and schedule an appointment: Dermatologist at IMR, Madrid. Director of the Scar Treatment Unit. EP 110. Lumbar Pain with Dr. Teresa Bas.

Hellooooo:), welcome back to another episode of the podcast and the start of a new season, which comes with some very important new features: among them, the addition of video format and the presence of very special guests, both on a personal and professional level. And I think there could be no better person to accompany me at this beginning than Dr. Teresa Bas: spine surgeon, expert in the treatment of scoliosis in adults and children, head of the Spine Unit at the La Fe University Hospital in Valencia, associate professor at the University of Valencia and, also, my mother. In today's episode, we'll learn what lower back pain is, its various causes, what distinguishes it from sciatica, and how these problems are addressed medically and surgically. We'll also explore lifestyle changes and supplements that can help improve lower back pain, herniated discs, and sciatica, as well as the crucial role of exercise and nutrition in spinal health. And last but not least, we'll discuss the differences in spinal pathology between women and men. I hope you find it useful and learn a lot. EP 109. Reflujo, dispepsia y omeprazol: lo que necesitas saber.

EP 109. Reflux, indigestion, and omeprazole: what you need to know.

Hellooo :)In this latest episode of the season, we discuss one of the most frequent (and misunderstood) topics in medical consultations: the chronic use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) like omeprazole, pantoprazole, esomeprazole, as well as H2 blockers like famotidine, often for gastrointestinal issues such as dyspepsia or reflux. But first, I'll explain which cells produce acid, why we need it, and what can happen when we block it for too long. I'll also cover the causes behind symptoms like reflux, dyspepsia, or heavy digestion, and when it makes sense to use PPIs on a short-term or longer-term basis.Additionally, I'll try to review the diagnostic algorithm for different clinical cases (reflux, esophagitis, functional dyspepsia, eosinophilic esophagitis) with you, and we'll discuss situations where dietary supplements or lifestyle adjustments might be helpful.Everything with a clear goal: neither to demonize nor idealize these medications, but to understand well how and when to use them.I hope you enjoy it and, above all, find it very useful :)For more information, you know you can find me on my Instagram @isabelvina where I share daily content My TikTok @isabelvinabasOn my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-dfdxLBcvfztBvRAKZSXGQAnd the supplements formulated by me https://ivbwellness.comFor more information, you know you can find me on my Instagram @isabelvina where I share daily content My TikTok @isabelvinabasOn my YouTube channel YouTube ChannelAnd the supplements formulated by me on my website My Website
EP 108. Composición corporal en verano: cómo no perder lo que has ganado.

EP 108. Body composition in summer: how not to lose what you have gained.

Hello!!! In today's podcast, I'll try to share tips you can apply to maintain all the health gains you've made with your lifestyle routine throughout the year. This way, if you wish, you can fully enjoy the summer while minimizing the metabolic and overall health losses that can be associated with typical summer routines, where we can't be as diligent with our exercise, diet, and other lifestyle measures. It's not necessary to apply them all, or all at once. The important thing is to be aware of them so that, if we wish, we can apply them. Ideally all of them, but if not, any you can apply, even for just a couple of days, will always be beneficial. Every little helps. Every stone makes a wall. I hope you like it. Big kisses!! EP 99. Lipoprotein(a): The Forgotten Factor in Cardiovascular Health.

Hola :) Thank you so much for being here another day :)In today's episode, I'll talk to you about What lipoprotein(a) is and why it's not the same as traditional cholesterol. How having elevated levels affects your risk of heart attack, heart failure, aortic valve stenosis, or stroke, even if your cholesterol is "perfect." Why it has a strong genetic component and how it's inherited. Why everyone should have their lipoprotein levels measured in their blood at least once in their lifetime. What good levels are (125 nmol/L / 50 mg/dL). What extra tests should be done if your levels are high, in case you have silent repercussions on your health. What can be done if you have high Lp(a) in your daily life, including diet, exercise, and nutritional supplements that can address different pathways involved in cardiovascular risk and that, by controlling it, will mitigate the genetic risk of high Lp(a).
