EP 116. Menopause: why your body changes and how to take care of yourself with Marta Marcè
In today's episode, Dr. Isabel Viña talks with Marta Marcé, a nutritionist, communicator, and educator specializing in menopause. She experienced early menopause firsthand, a life-changing event. This personal and professional journey has led her to support thousands of women through their menopause transition and experience, offering consultations, programs, courses, and maintaining a very active presence on social media, speaking engagements, and in the press. She is also the author of two reference books in Spanish: “Enjoy Your Menopause” and “Nourish Your Menopause.” During the interview they talk about one of the most repeated phrases in consultation: "Why, if I do the same things as always, have I developed this belly that I didn't have before?" Marta explains which metabolic and hormonal changes cause this abdominal fat gain and which strategies actually work to stop it . They delve into the protective role of muscle mass : how it helps maintain metabolism, regulate glucose, protect bones, and reduce the fat accumulation typical of this stage . They also cover: Key nutrients that require special attention during menopause and the most common nutritional myths , debunked with evidence and clinical experience. Primary ovarian insufficiency : how it differs from natural menopause, what it implies at a hormonal level, and what young women going through this situation should take special care of. Cooking food . How the type of cooking can increase or decrease the bioavailability of nutrients, affect essential micronutrients and, on the other hand, generate toxic combustion products or even hormone disruptors that should be avoided, especially at this stage. Marta also shares the three supplements she most recommends for their real effectiveness and the most common mistakes she observes when women supplement on their own. They close the episode with a powerful message for anyone going through this stage and feeling like their body has changed without warning: how to reconnect with your body, sleep better, and feel like yourself again . EP 112. Skin Health with Dr. José Luis Ramirez.
Hellooo :) In today's episode I have the pleasure of chatting with Dr. José Luis Ramírez, a specialist in dermatology, with extensive experience in the treatment of acne, rosacea and in the use of laser therapies. Throughout the episode we address the most frequent reasons why people between the ages of 25 and 65 visit the dermatologist today, and how stress, environmental pollution or sun exposure directly influence skin health. We also discussed the most notable differences between female and male skin throughout the different stages of life, and how to adapt skin care to each age. We delve into the world of dermatological lasers: why the same technology can be used for acne, blemishes, wrinkles, or sagging skin; which types of lasers are most effective depending on the indication; what expectations are realistic before starting treatment; and how to minimize risks. We also compare blue light and infrared treatments with lasers and analyze in which cases they can be complementary. Furthermore, and in keeping with José Luis's extensive experience, we dedicate a significant portion of the episode to acne: from its management in adulthood to topical treatments, dietary supplements, laser therapies, and the most effective medications. Dr. Ramírez explains how long it is advisable to maintain treatments like isotretinoin and whether, once completed, the skin changes can be long-lasting. Finally, we share practical advice on three basic pillars for skin care from age 25 onwards, the most common mistakes to avoid, the most useful supplements for skin health, as well as other lifestyle measures with the greatest positive impact on the skin. EP 111. Injectable Drugs for Weight Loss with Dr. Francisco Merino.
Hello, have a happy day when you hear me :) Today I bring you a highly requested podcast episode dedicated to injectable weight loss drugs. To discuss such an important and topical issue, I'm joined by Dr. Francisco Merino, a specialist in Endocrinology and Nutrition and head of the department at the La Fe University Polytechnic Hospital in Valencia. With over 20 years of clinical experience using these medications, he'll provide us with everything we need to know so that, if we are candidates for or considering using them, we'll be fully aware of both their advantages and potential risks. We'll also place special emphasis on the importance of always combining them with physical exercise, a proper diet, and even the intake of certain micronutrients to prevent deficiencies associated with their use. And since I couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a guest of this caliber, I also asked him some questions about insulin, cortisol, and chronic stress. I hope you find this episode very useful. EP 108. Body composition in summer: how not to lose what you have gained.
Hello!!! In today's podcast, I'll try to share tips you can apply to maintain all the health gains you've made with your lifestyle routine throughout the year. This way, if you wish, you can fully enjoy the summer while minimizing the metabolic and overall health losses that can be associated with typical summer routines, where we can't be as diligent with our exercise, diet, and other lifestyle measures. It's not necessary to apply them all, or all at once. The important thing is to be aware of them so that, if we wish, we can apply them. Ideally all of them, but if not, any you can apply, even for just a couple of days, will always be beneficial. Every little helps. Every stone makes a wall. I hope you like it. Big kisses!!
